Objectified Documentary Screening
Monday, May 11, 2009, Two showings: 6:30PM and 9:00PM
Drexel University, Bossone Auditorium, 3141 Chestnut Street, Philly, PA 19014
$20 (tickets)

I love industrial design. I wanted to be an architect but I never learned how to see/draw. This documentary is all about how some of those shiny, happy objects go from a gleam in a designer's eye to your hands. I know that $20 for a film screening qualifies as a unqualified splurge, but what price to be inspired by some of the creative geniuses (Jonathan Ive of Apple [iMac, iPhone, iEverything!]) and Karim Rashid (made Tar-get cooler) who make our daily lives a little more fun. Director Gary Hustwit will be in attendance.

YPN's Success in the City
Monday, May 11, 2009, 6:00PM
The Down Town Club, Public Ledger Building, 6th & Chestnut Street, 11th floor, Philly, PA 19106
$20 (Pre-registration required by May 10)

I've only been to a few but YPN events are a great opportunity to meet Philly-based entrepreneurs and young professionals. This event promises to be interesting, with a panel of regional experts discussing on "what the plans are to make Philly a more sustainable place to live, work, and play".

  1. I saw Chuck when he last swung through Philly and found him totally inspiring. If you like him, or not, he is a great storyteller and strives to connect other storytellers. His site actually offers a virtual writing workshop that allows writers to comment on his and other writers developing work. So glad you posted it to the blog. You have an incredible pulse on the city. I love the events you are suggesting and find your lust for the "un-obvious" Philly adventures both exciting and endearing. Great to have you on board!!
